Citizens of some countries must register at local police stations (OVIR / OVD) within 5 days of arrival, including weekends and the date of arrival. Registration may be provided as a separate service. As a rule, citizens of countries that require a visa to Kyrgyzstan must register within 5 days of entering the country. Failure to register will result in a fine of 10,000 Kyrgyz som, and border guards will not allow you to leave the country until the fine is paid. This can result in a missed flight and additional expenses.

Uzbekistan is a notable exception, as its citizens do not need a visa, but they do need to register.

It is also worth noting that citizens of 92 countries are exempt from registration for a certain number of days when visiting Kyrgyzstan.
